Tell the Truth!

By Pastor Annette Barker

Was the words blurted out of the store owners mouth as he held the little boy by the arm. “Admit you took those cookies” he shouted, “I saw you.”  It’s on surveillance camera but if you just admit it I won’t press charges, I’ll just let you go.

Many times we think if we hold back telling the truth we are protecting ourselves, however scripture informs us it’s just the opposite. The truth shall set you Free!  Free is the ability to simply be unrestricted.  Many are walking around held bound and in chains.  Restricted simply because lack of knowledge. Many are Restricted because they know “of” Jesus but they don’t know Jesus. We know what Grandma told us.  We know from the plaques on the wall Mom & Dad showed us but we don’t know Jesus for ourselves. Therefore, we are restricted because we have zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. Romans 10:2.

Many are restricted with sickness and diseases because they don’t know that Jesus is Jehovah Rophi our healer.  Many are restricted living in debt, on fixed, low or no income. Literally going without because lack of knowledge paralyzes them from knowing He’s also Jehovah Jair our provider. We’re restricted by chaos and confusion in our homes, on our jobs and in the world because we fail to realize He’s Jehovah Shalom, the giver of peace. We become restricted with lonesomeness and feeling all alone because we didn’t recognize Him as Jehovah Shamash, He was there all the time because He’s always present.  Then there are those restricted feeling that our backs are up against the wall and we’re fighting a no win loosing battle because we don’t know we can simply call on Jehovah Nissi our battle fighter.

When you don’t know that you don’t know,  you just don’t know.    Sadly, many just don’t know. Lack of knowledge restricts us from not just telling the truth but knowing the truth. We can’t share what we do not have and in this case we can’t tell what we do not know. Many testimonies are left unspoken, unheard and non-beneficial – all because lack of knowledge blinds us.  Consequently, we rarely see the reality of our victory which is Jesus who steps in in the nick of time and recuse us.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.  John 14:6. There’s so much more to Him then meets the eye. Jesus said it best in John 8:31-32, “If you abide in my Word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (NKJV).

In others words Jesus is saying we must set aside time to get to know Him and His truths. We must make Him our top priority so when things do get out of order not only will He put them back in order, but there will be no confusion about who put things got back in order.  Somehow someway you will know Truth stepped in.

He’s saying I am the real deal.  My nickname is Truth. In His love and compassion for us Jesus warrens us to be careful for there’s an impersonator that goes by the name “Liar”.  Liar comes to kill, steal and destroy you.  He will fool you and make you think he’s got everything under control.  He’ll catch you off guard and allow to get bit by snakes, frightened by giants, thrown in pits and left for dead.    Mind you, as you’re falling into your pit he’ll make it appear that he’s holding up & helping you put.  As you’re falling you’ll soon discover you’re all alone. You’ll find yourself looking around for it will seems like no one is around; but hold on because when Liar is doing his best work, which is forsaking you; Truth always come out.  Truth shows up when you need Him. When liar is trying to take your life, Truth comes that you mighty have life and life more abundantly.  Again, Truth is the real deal!   Truth is certain. Truth is a tangible existence that is always reliable.  Truth is your way out of no way. Truth opens doors no man can close and close doors no man can open.  Truth speaks and the liar trembles, fears and run for His life.  Jesus is saying If you get to know me, Truth; you become one of mine. I’ll abide in you and you’ll abide in me.   Jesus is saying I take care of mine. I’ll watch over you.  I’ll be there for you.  No weapon formed against you shall prosper.  When the enemy shall come in like a flood, I shall lift up a standard against him and most certainly unlike “Liar” I’ll never leave nor forsake you.

Like the little boy we all get caught up in the snares of life.  Like the store owner, Jesus catches us by the arm, not to harm us but to help and to free us.  We must realize because He’s God He sees all. Every step we make, every move we make and everything we do. Just like that little boy we too are on surveillance camera. Everything is being recorded, and just as the store owner called the authorities, before the final results are written in the book of life, were given another opportunity.  Again, just as the store owner said, God too is saying tell the Truth! “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” Romans 10:9.

Tell the truth.  Tell, speak, confess that He’s Lord of Lords and Kings of Kings, He’s Alpha & Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the author and finisher of your faith. We don’t have to believe the enemy and live ungodly lives.  We can make another choice even in the midst of our sins. We can accept Truth.   God desires for us to live in integrity.  To live honest clean lives that represent Him. Therefore, He’s blurring out like the store owner; Tell the truth!  Tell of my goodness.  When you tell the truth you know the Truth and the truth shall set you Free!

Prayer: Most high God I thank you for your all seeing eye that watches over me.  For your hand that catch me when I fall and hold me in the cradles of your arms.  Thank you Father for truly you are the Truth whose certain in my every circumstances of life and will not fail me.  For you are the Truth that set me free, and whom the Son sets free is free indeed.   Thank you Father, Amen.
